In the heart of Africa, a profound journey of spiritual reflection unfolds in the documentary “Reconciling Africa,” filmed and edited by Jeremy Moore, with editing assistance by Wickson Remy. Traveling through Zambia, Botswana, and South Africa, the film delves into the depths of the African spirit, guided by voices such as David Newcombe, the international director of LMC Africa, Bishop Felix Mumbi, Pastor Chris Tress, and His Royal Highness Apostle Chief Chipepo, Chief Over Chirundu District.
As the film unfolds, it becomes evident that Africa’s future is bright. With a resurgence of both prosperous communities and spiritual uplifting, the continent is poised to embrace a new era of enlightenment. The narrative of Africa is shifting, from one of struggle to one of boundless opportunity.
Bishop Felix Mumbi, Dean of Livingstone Mission Centre Africa, sheds light on the continent’s history. “We’re looking in our own context in Africa because we’re asking our questions, Why Africa?” he explains. Through this introspection, a story emerges—one that has remained untold for too long.
Chris Tress, Pastor of Bow Down Church and President/CEO of Urban Youth Impact, highlights that the trip was initiated by African chiefs, descendants of former rulers, seeking to reconnect with those sold into slavery hundreds of years ago. The goal? An Identificational Repentance event, paving the way for a bright future for Africa that has been a long overdue. Moore’s team states “The goal of this trip revolves around the fact that as disciples of Jesus Christ, we have a ministry of reconciliation. (II Corinthians 5:18-19). As a result of the process of the ancestors of the Chiefs and kings reconciling themselves to the descendants of the slaves from long ago, they believe a curse will be lifted from the heart of Africa and a spirit of fatherlessness will leave the ones who receive it”.
Amidst the profound discussions, the team encounters the breathtaking beauty of Africa’s landscape. From elephants and graceful giraffes to the iconic Baobab trees and vibrant flora, the richness of the continent is palpable.
Principal and Pastor of Kingdom Life Fellowship, Palm Beach, Bobbie Brooks, reflects on the transformative nature of the journey, remarking, “It changed the trajectory of things for me quite a bit.” Meanwhile, David Newcombe emphasizes Africa stating “Africa is rising up as the greatest Christian continent that’s ever been”.
Throughout the documentary, luminaries like Reverend Wisdom Gondwe and Queen Sekute of Sekute Chiefdom in the Kazungula District, alongside Reverend Vincent Katongo, bear witness to the spiritual resurgence sweeping across Africa. It’s a journey marked by hope, healing, and a profound sense of purpose. The team states “This is an invitation to African-American, Haitian, and other black pastors from around the world to return home and receive the forgiveness that is being presented in order for reconciliation to take place. We want to allow the Holy Spirit to move and to work in you as you walk around the landscape and listen to His voice.”
In honoring Jeremy Moore, we recognize his technical prowess and his commitment to capturing moments that tell God’s story. Moore’s work embodies excellence, shining a light on narratives that deserve to be heard. But more importantly, his team and colleagues recognize the Holy Spirit working through him and the inspiration empowering the story as a whole, in the filming, editing, and production work. Through God’s lens, this film tells of Africa’s journey towards spiritual and economic prosperity and is beautifully documented, inspiring audiences worldwide.
