The Voice of Africa is delighted to spotlight Yao Nyaku as our Intern of the Week! Serving as our Administrative Assistant, Yao has proven to be an invaluable asset to our team, ensuring our systems run smoothly and solidifying key relationships with stakeholders in Malawi. His dedication and multifaceted talents in media and administration have significantly contributed to our organization’s success.

Yao Nyaku’s journey into the world of media and journalism is deeply rooted in his family’s legacy. With a passion for photography, Yao started his own photography business, YMN Productions, capturing moments and creating compelling visuals. This venture sparked his interest in media, a field that seemed almost predestined given his family background. His uncle, a seasoned photographer, and his father, a former publisher of African Future Magazine, served as early inspirations. From managing social media to editing photos, Yao’s involvement in their work laid a solid foundation for his career in media.

Choosing to intern at The Voice of Africa was a natural step for Yao. Drawn by the organization’s Pan-African mission to promote and invest in Africa, Yao saw it as a perfect opportunity to align his personal goals with a greater cause. The welcoming environment and the shared Ghanaian heritage with the team members further solidified his decision. Inspired by Pan-African leaders like Kwame Nkrumah, Yao has always harbored a deep commitment to the ideals of unity and progress for the continent.

One of Yao’s most memorable experiences at The Voice of Africa was attending an event at Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C. The journey from New York to D.C. was an early start, but the experience was worth it. Engaging with influential speakers and witnessing the power of The Voice of Africa in action left a lasting impression on him. Additionally, the opportunity to photograph the event and its participants was a significant highlight, showcasing his skills and contributing to the event’s success.

Yao’s work at The Voice of Africa has also been marked by his efforts in bolstering relationships with stakeholders in Malawi. His administrative prowess and attention to detail ensure that our operations are efficient and effective, helping to drive our mission forward. His ability to juggle multiple responsibilities and go above and beyond is evident in his work ethic and achievements.

Looking ahead, Yao envisions a brighter future for Africa. He aspires for the continent to overcome corruption and advance technologically, with improved infrastructure and greater investment. Yao believes that media and journalism play crucial roles in this development. By portraying Africa’s true potential and successes, rather than just its challenges, media can shift perceptions and attract global interest and investment.

Yao’s long-term goals include becoming a successful entrepreneur in tech and real estate, starting with investments in Ghana and expanding across Africa. He also hopes to continue growing his photography business, leveraging his talents to achieve broader recognition. His ambition, coupled with a relentless drive to succeed, positions him as a future leader in his field.

In a fun fact that not many know, Yao admits he doesn’t know how to relax and is always hustling to achieve his goals. This tireless dedication is precisely what makes him such an exceptional intern and a valuable member of The Voice of Africa team.

Congratulations, Yao Nyaku! Your hard work, passion, and commitment are truly inspiring, and we look forward to your continued contributions to The Voice of Africa and beyond.
