Joburg Film Festival (JFF) returns for the seventh edition from March 11 to 16, 2025,
turning the South African city of Sandton, known as the ‘City of Gold’ into the ultimate
movie-lover’s paradise.

“In the ever-evolving landscape of global media and entertainment, the Joburg Film Festival stands at the forefront of Africa’s cultural and creative revolution,” said Nhlanhla
Ndaba, Joburg Film Festival Curator.

Be prepared for red carpets, powerful African storytelling, electric energy, and a lineup
so good it’ll have you glued to your seat. With over 60 African and international feature
films, 43 short films, and 28 world premieres, this festival is all about celebrating stories
that connect us.

This year’s 2025 theme “The Golden Thread – Connected Through Stories”, highlights
the valuable treasures that arise when we share our African narratives through
storytelling.

JFF Founder Tim Mangwedi explained that the theme, “Represents the unbreakable link
that storytelling forms between individuals, communities and cultures.”add that, “This is
a celebration of connectivity, of learning from one another, and of recognising the
meaningful impact our stories can have on the world.”

Whether it’s a blockbuster, an indie masterpiece, or a documentary that shakes your
soul, JFF is here to showcase films that will resonate with you and have you feel
something real.
