CAF Ambassador Emmanuel Adebayor has praised the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, describing the tournament’s organization and infrastructure in Morocco as a model that can be replicated across the continent.

Speaking during the group stage of Africa Cup of Nations, Adebayor compared the architecture, transport systems and matchday organization in Moroccan host cities to major global capitals such as London and Madrid. He said the current AFCON setup demonstrates that African countries can deliver events at the highest international standard when planning, investment and execution align.

On the pitch, Adebayor highlighted what he described as a clear tactical evolution among African teams. He pointed to sides like Senegal as examples of how African football is blending physical strength with structured, modern approaches shaped by elite European competition, without losing its identity.

Adebayor also used the moment to strongly defend Mohamed Salah following criticism from sections of the English media. He described the Egyptian forward as one of the greatest players in Premier League history and said African footballers continue to be held to different standards despite consistent excellence at the highest level.

While noting personal disappointment that Togo and Ghana are not participating in the 2025 edition, Adebayor credited the Confederation of African Football for creating an environment where African coaches, administrators and players are increasingly proving their ability to lead, organize and compete globally.

AFCON 2025 has drawn large crowds, strong continental interest and international attention, reinforcing the tournament’s growing stature. Beyond results, the event has become a visible statement about African capacity, ambition and execution in sport and infrastructure.

And that matters. Africa is not an old system trying to hold on. It is a young continent still building its institutions, still refining its processes, and still early in its development journey. Progress does not come from imitation alone, but from confidence, patience and continuity. What Morocco is showing at AFCON 2025 is not an exception. It is a preview of what becomes possible when Africa backs its own vision and invests in its future.
