Born in Ghana and migrating to USA at the tender age of five, Ernestine’s upbringing was infused with a strong sense of family values and a deep-rooted connection to her heritage. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the Anna Vaughn School of Nursing at Oral Roberts University, Ernestine views nursing as more than just a profession – it’s a calling. “It takes a special kind of grace to care for people, regardless of background, belief, nationality, or even how they treat you,” she shares. Guided by her faith and a sense of purpose, Ernestine found her path intertwined with ORU, where she not only receives a top-notch education but also nurtures and blesses others.

Inspired by the organization’s mission to honor the memory of baby Aaron by empowering children to make a positive impact, Ernestine’s involvement stems from her personal connection to the cause. Reflecting on her great-grandmother’s experience as an orphan and the adversity she faced, Ernestine is driven by a desire to pay it forward and bless others as her great-grandmother was blessed.

Ernestine’s dedication to community service extends beyond borders. By leveraging social media platforms and forming connections with individuals facilitating container shipments to Liberia, Ernestine orchestrated a heartwarming Christmas initiative that brought joy and hope to children in need. Her tireless efforts to raise funds for Aaron’s Presents through grant speeches and fundraising campaigns exemplify her unwavering determination and compassion.

However, Ernestine’s advocacy does not stop at community service. Motivated by personal loss and a desire for systemic change, Ernestine aspires to become a nurse practitioner to advocate for women’s health and address disparities in healthcare. She recognizes the unique challenges faced by African American women, particularly in areas such as early diagnosis and postpartum care, and is determined to be a voice for change. Through her future endeavors in nursing and public health, Ernestine aims to empower women, amplify their voices, and advocate for their rights on a global scale.

Looking ahead, Ernestine’s vision extends beyond her individual aspirations.
