A group of Arab, Muslim‑majority and allied nations has announced that it will take part in the recently proposed “Board of Peace” aimed at stabilizing the Gaza Strip and supporting efforts toward a permanent ceasefire, reconstruction and lasting peace.
In a joint statement issued at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the foreign ministries of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Turkiye, Indonesia and Pakistan said they welcomed an invitation from United States President Donald Trump to participate in the initiative. The board’s mission, according to the statement, is to act as a transitional governing body under a broader plan to end the conflict in Gaza and lay the groundwork for peace based on Palestinian self‑determination and statehood in accordance with international law.
The leaders reaffirmed their support for the peace efforts, emphasizing cooperation to help secure a permanent ceasefire, advance reconstruction of Gaza, and promote security and stability for all states and people in the region.
Trump’s proposal for the “Board of Peace” has been tied to broader plans for a Gaza governing framework and transitional authority that include multinational oversight and reconstruction support. U.S. officials have said the initiative could work alongside existing diplomatic and United Nations‑related efforts to foster stability in the aftermath of prolonged conflict in the Palestinian territory.
At Davos, U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff described the regional response as encouraging, noting that participating countries were “working together towards peace” and expressed optimism about the board’s potential to reverse cycles of violence and support civilian recovery.
The statement also highlighted the importance of broader diplomatic engagement — including a call for Iran to take part in diplomatic efforts — as part of establishing a more comprehensive regional peace architecture.
However, reports from the forum indicated some uncertainty among European leaders about joining the Board of Peace, with several weighing whether to accept invitations as capitals assess how the initiative aligns with existing United Nations‑led peace processes.
The joint participation of countries from the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia reflects an effort to gather a wide range of diplomatic voices behind an agreed framework for peace and reconstruction in Gaza.
