The 6th edition of the Georgetown Africa Business Conference (GTABC) is set to take place on March 12th û 13th, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM EST. The annual conference is aimed at showcasing the growth and impact of economic sectors across the African continent and facilitating a discussion on the opportunities that abound. 

This year, the conference keynote address will be delivered by Bajabulile Swazi Tshabalala, acting Senior Vice President, African Development Bank Group (AfDB), joined by speakers from across the globe, who will convene virtually to promote solutions and address the challenges that stand in the way of success. Panel discussions span across six key economic sectors û finance, trade, technology, energy & infrastructure, health care and women in business and leadership.

The two-day Conference will follow in the stead of previous GTABC conferences, to bring together business and policy leaders, a mix the dynamism, and innovation of students/startup founders. This will help shape conversations around doing business across the African continent. The 6th edition of the Conference is headlined Africa’s Role in Framing the Future: COVID-19 and Beyond

Some of the notable speakers at the event will include Ambassador Robin Renee Sanders, CEO, FEEEDS Advocacy Initiative, Aubrey Hruby, Africa Investment Advisor/Adjunct Professor, Georgetown African Studies Program at the Walsh School of Foreign Service, Landry SignΘ, Senior fellow, Brookings Institution, and Senior Director/ Professor, Thunderbird School of Global Management, Steve Cashin, CEO, Pan African Capital Group LLC and Thierry Tanoh, former Minister of Petroleum, Energy, and Renewable Energy, Cote d’Ivoire

The 5th edition of the Conference which was held last year explored The Big Market: Harnessing Growth in a New Age of African Trade and highlighted in tandem, how to drive and frame the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AcfTA). It also provided a platform for business leaders and startup founders hoping to capitalize on new opportunities, and students and young professionals who will help define the future.

The conference is a collaborative effort of the African Studies Program and the Global Human Development Program at the Georgetown University Walsh School of Foreign Service and McDonough School of Business, and proudly supported by several external partners including media partners KAFTAN TV Nigeria and The Voice of Africa.

The primary organizers of the Georgetown Africa Business Conference are students from across university.
