Kigali, Rwanda – August 21, 2025 – The Voice of Africa (TVOA) is on the ground covering the 21st edition of Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Africa, the NBA and FIBA’s flagship basketball development program for the continent. This year’s camp kicks off on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Petit Stade in Kigali, Rwanda, and runs through August 26, bringing together the continent’s brightest young basketball talents for four days of training, mentorship, and cultural exchange.
About Basketball Without Borders
Launched in 2001, BWB has grown into a premier global basketball development program, uniting young athletes, NBA/WNBA players, coaches, and executives to promote basketball skills, leadership, and community impact. BWB Africa focuses on identifying top high-school-age prospects across Africa, providing them with elite basketball training while instilling life skills, leadership, and the values of teamwork and sportsmanship.
Who Will Be There
The 2025 edition of BWB Africa will welcome a star-studded lineup of NBA and WNBA talent, including:
- NBA Executives: Clare Akamanzi (NBA Africa CEO), Michael Finley (NBA Kenya Country Head), Troy Justice (NBA Head of International Basketball Operations), Kita Matungulu (NBA Africa Director of Basketball Operations)
- Former NBA Players: Marvin Williams (2006 NBA All-Rookie Second Team), Kerry Kittles (1996-97 NBA All-Rookie Second Team)
- Former WNBA Player: Tamika Catchings (2012 WNBA Champion & Olympic Gold Medalist)
- NBA Coaches: Charles Lee (Charlotte Hornets Head Coach), Lloyd Pierce (Indiana Pacers Assistant Coach), Moses Ehambe & Micah Nori (Minnesota Timberwolves Assistant Coaches)
- Camp Directors & Trainers: Luca Desta (Utah Jazz VP of Global Scouting, Ethiopia), Jasen Powell (Los Angeles Clippers Head Athletic Trainer)

Over the course of four days, 60 young prospects (30 male, 30 female) from over 20 African countries will participate in skill development sessions, evaluation games, team practices, and interactive Q&A panels with current and former NBA and WNBA players.
Representing The Voice of Africa
TVOA will be represented on the ground by Fenan Atobrhan – Coach, Former Player, Advocate for Women in Basketball, and 2025 Houston Rockets Summer League Staff Member. Fenan’s presence underscores TVOA’s commitment to amplifying African voices in global arenas while spotlighting the growing influence of women in basketball and sports leadership.

Camp Schedule Highlights:
- Saturday, August 23: Opening day with warm-ups, 2v1 & 3v2 transition drills, skills development stations, evaluation games, and a Q&A panel with NBA/WNBA stars.
- Sunday, August 24: Skills stations, team practices, games, and participation in the NBA Cares Initiative.
- Monday, August 25: Skills development, games, and the FIBA Coaches Clinic.
- Tuesday, August 26: Warm-ups, a three-point contest, late game situations, playoffs, the camp championship, and the BWB Africa 2025 Award Ceremony.

The camp not only hones basketball skills but also emphasizes leadership, teamwork, and community engagement, reflecting the NBA and FIBA’s commitment to using sports as a platform for positive change across Africa.
