On Sunday, Mr. Senyo Hosi, the Chief Executive of the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors, raised concerns regarding the four-day national funeral activities being held in honour of the late president, Jerry Rawlings. In a plea, he sent a plea through his Facebook page admonishing the government to revisit plans on physical gatherings for these activities calling it “a super spreader COVID-19 event.”

In a post on same platform this morning, It appears the government has given a listening ear to the plea and the Ministry of Information has put out a statement via it’s twitter platforms with updated plans regarding today, January 25, 2021 and tomorrow, January 26, 2021 activities.

In the statement by the ministry:

“Activities for burial rites of Fmr Prez Rawlings have commenced. On Monday & Tuesday he will be laid in state at Accra Conference Center. Many TV stations will be covering it live. So you can, especially in these covid times, participate virtually by watching from home #RIPJJ.”
