Hasset Dereje Admassu has become one of the most inspiring women redefining what it means to represent Africa on the global stage. Crowned Miss World 1st Runner-Up and Miss World Africa 2025, she has emerged as a new symbol of intelligence, elegance, and purpose — a young leader redefining what it means to represent Africa on the global stage through intellect, compassion, and vision.

Hasset’s story begins in Addis Ababa, where curiosity and ambition met tradition and pride. A second-year Chemical Engineering student at Addis Ababa Science and Technology University, she represents the perfect harmony between academic excellence and artistic grace. Her passion for STEM challenges old stereotypes about what women in pageantry can be — she’s as comfortable discussing equations as she is walking a runway.

“One of the proudest moments of my life was completing a challenging project in my studies that required immense teamwork and focus,” she shares. “It showed me that perseverance is power — and that every challenge can become a stepping stone to growth.”

Hasset’s rise in Miss World was never just about outer beauty. It was a story of redefining narratives. Throughout the competition, she embodied intellect, empathy, and cultural confidence. Whether in talent showcases or public speaking challenges, she carried the essence of Africa with quiet strength — proving that beauty and impact are not opposites, but extensions of each other.
Beyond the stage, Hasset’s purpose is rooted in service. She works closely with NGOs and youth-driven organizations such as the Maya Charitable Organization, where she helps raise awareness about Spinal Bifida and Hydrocephalus. Her focus is on inclusion — ensuring that children living with disabilities are seen, heard, and supported. Her advocacy demonstrates that leadership is not measured in crowns, but in compassion.
“Miss World Africa is not the destination,” she says. “It’s the beginning of a responsibility — to amplify the stories of African women, to serve with authenticity, and to show the world that beauty and brilliance coexist.”

What sets Hasset apart is her authenticity. She embraces her culture with pride, often sharing her love for Ethiopia’s Buna coffee ceremony — a ritual that reflects community, patience, and connection. “It’s a moment where time slows down,” she explains. “It reminds us that our strength lies in our togetherness.” For her, traditions like these reflect Africa’s heartbeat — timeless, nurturing, and beautifully human.
As Miss World Africa, Hasset sees her role not as symbolic but catalytic. She hopes to use her influence to expand access to education, especially for young girls pursuing science and technology. Her dream is to see more African women represented in spaces of innovation and policy — not just participating, but leading.

Pageantry, she says, gave her the confidence to speak and the courage to serve. But she’s clear about one thing: “I’m not just a pageant girl,” she laughs. “I’m a student, a dreamer, a voice for the next generation.”
Through her elegance and intellect, Hasset has become a bridge — connecting tradition and progress, beauty and purpose, Ethiopia and the world. Her reign is not defined by crowns or titles, but by her unwavering dedication to impact.
From Addis Ababa to the world, Hasset Dereje Admassu stands as a radiant example of Africa’s evolution — bold, brilliant, and bound by purpose. Her story is a reminder that Africa’s daughters are not waiting for permission to lead. They already are.
